It's an early night on Snow's ship. Most of us have nothing better to do than resign ourselves to sitting, shackled on the ground, and wait for either torture or starvation to claim our lives first. But I got you, little sister.
When I said, "I'll never let you go" When all those shadows almost killed your light
You're so little, and so strong in this hellhole. But you're still a kid. You have your face all hidden against me, choking down your sniffles so I won't think you were crying. But didn't you say it was the last right you had?
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight
"Hey, hey Credenza, ssh. It's gonna be okay." I murmur, stroking your hair a little to calm you down. I don't even know how old you are, but you're too young. Too young to be captured and put on a pirate ship, to be put through this. To see everyone around you withering away to miserable husks. "Just go to sleep.."
Just close your eyes The sun is going down You'll be alright No one can hurt you now Come morning light You and I'll be safe and sound
You quiet down a little bit, but I can tell you're still crying. "You lying piece of bilge!! How dare you" Two other prisoners break out into a scuffle. The sounds of fists against skin and the coppery smell of blood tinge the atmosphere after a few minutes. "Uru" you try to raise your head and look up. I wrap my arms around you, hiding your face. "Credenza. Don't."
Don't you dare look out your window darling, Everything's on fire. The war outside our door keeps raging on.
It ends. And whatever qualm those two had is settled now. Your sobs and sniffles have given way to trembling and whimpering now. I sigh. I wish I could help you, I wish we could leave. I eventually start to hum some random tune I remember from home. It's probably not what you usually listen to, but maybe it'll help.
Hold on to this lullaby, Even when the music's gone. Gone.
Just close your eyes The sun is going down.
I keep it up for a few minutes, and finally, finally you're asleep. I hope you don't have any nightmares, because you at least deserve one refuge from all of this. You deserve to escape, and be free. I don't care what it takes little sister, I'm going to get you out of here.
You'll be alright, No one can hurt you now. Come morning light, You and I'll be, safe and sound.
